Some Updates

Hello friends! It has been a minute since I regularly updated this blog, but due to a couple huge life updates I thought it was a good time to kick it back up again. I thought I would write a quick post on the two biggest updates first to catch you up.

WERE PREGNANT

And due pretty soon actually. October 2nd is the official due date. We were never quite sure that we wanted to be done with just two kids and as River and Arden got older we already started to miss having babies and little kids around and we realized we weren’t ready to be done. We are so excited to be adding another Gilmer to the world.

We don’t know what it is yet. We decided to be surprised this time. So far it has been really fun not knowing but I think Courtney hates it. She is a planner.

WERE MOVING

This one even we are still trying to wrap our heads around because it happened so fast. After learning we were pregnant we started looking at solutions for our house as it only has three bedrooms and both the kids were pretty used to their own bedrooms by now and if we could help it, it didn’t feel right making them share a room. We looked at upgrading to a bigger house but decided it would be the more responsible route to try to upgrade the house we already own, to redeem it and make it better. We looked at converting the garage into a bedroom and also into finishing the basement, but the with it being such an old house, any big changes we made would requite bringing sections of the house up to modern code and the price was overall way higher than we expected.

We decided to reach out to our realtor just to see what he thought and he mentioned that he was currently working with a couple that was having a hard time finding a house in this price range and that they might be interested. Fast forward one week and they have already seen the house and we are under contract to sell. It is contingent on us finding a place but it still feels crazy.

So right now we are currently shopping houses in the tri-town area. Dacono. Frederick, and Firestone are three towns about 15 miles north of us on I-25. It’s a much smaller area that feels cozy and much slower, but is still close enough for us to commute to the office.

We are incredibly excited but also a little nervous and stressed that we won’t find a place in time. If you can please be praying that we will find the right place to be our new home and that both sales will go off without a hitch.

At the beginning of the year I told Courtney that I felt like 2024 would be a year of change, who knew how right I would be? New family size and new home. It’s a lot to take in but we are all really excited.
