A couple of weeks ago I picked up a new adventure vehicle! As the kids have gotten bigger and have started joining me on trips in the backcountry, the Jeep has just become too small. There simply isn’t room for people and gear. I have wanted a 3rd gen 4Runner forever and my good friend Bob decided to upgrade his so I jumped at the opportunity. It is great shape for it’s age and has been maintained extremely well.
I have also started to move away from rock-crawling and have started enjoying overland travel a bit more. The 4Runner is MUCH better at this.
I don’t plan on going too crazy with modifying this rig, just subtle improvements to make it more usable. The first thing I needed to do was fix the sag. Over the years the springs on the rear have sagged, especially with new struts up front. I decided to replace them with some heavier duty Old Man Emu 2890 springs. The extra support will allow me to mount my Roof Top Tent on the top without too much strain on the suspension.
As you can see its stance is MUCH better with the new springs. The feel great as well, I have always been a fan of OME products.

As adventure is becoming a bigger part of this blog and my photography I am really excited about this rig. I will keep updating as I make little improvements and to the Runner and as always will post trips I take with it. See you on the trails!
