365 - January

Well I think I am going to do it again, am I crazy? I did a 365 project a couple of years ago and it was one of the most rewarding things I have done, but it was a lot of work. I think I am ready to do another one though.

I am giving myself a couple of rules and non-rules this time for a bit more consistency.

  • Camera doesn’t matter. I am going to shoot with whatever I have. Currently using a Fuji X-E4 as my “point-n-shoot” (the ones with the date in the corner), I have a couple of Nikon Z6ii cameras with several adapted G series lenses. This is my work kit but I will use it for this project as well as my “35mm SLR” setup. I also have a GFX 50S that I keep my adapted Nikon 58mm f1.4 mounted to most of the time. It will be my “medium format” camera.

  • I am going to lean into a cleaner look for this project. I don’t want to depend on vibes, I want to focus on storytelling and composition.

  • The last time I did this project, if I shot more than one phot that day, I chose the one that I thought was the best photo. I think this time I am going to instead choose my personal favorite. This will hopefully make it a bit more meaningful to me so you are likely to see more pictures of my family and friends.

  • I am not going to be strict about posting a photo a day, just making sure that I take at least one photo a day. I will likely batch edit and upload them as I get time.

  • At the end of the year I will make a book like I did last time. One photo per page and no text.

I am really excited about this project this year. I will be posting all of the photos in a gallery here on the site, but I will also post monthly re-cap posts here on the blog.
