Monthly Portraits

My favorite photo project I have right now, because it is very personal, is capturing at least one good photo of my children every month. It is so fun to see their growth over time. These are the two photos for January 2018. Links to the full galleries are at the end of this post.

Hiking with Brian and a 28mm

I went hiking with my buddy Brian this weekend. It was good to get out for a bit. Because of financial reasons I have decided to shoot digital a bit more recently, not that I mind that much. My A7ii is pretty awesome.

I bought a 28mm lens for it a little while back and I have been on the fence about it. The lens itself is actually wonderful. I was more struggling with if I liked 28mm as a focal length at all. I decided to shoot it only this day and I think its growing on me. It's wide but it can be a lot of fun.

The Abandoned Turnpike

On our first full day in PA my father-in-law Scott took me and his buddy Brent on a bike ride on an old turnpike that has been abandoned since the 60's. It has two really long tunnels with no light that are pretty creepy and awesome to ride though.

I also snuck up into the building part of one of them to get some shots inside. It definitely gave me a taste for URBEX. I see a visit to Detroit in my future...

You may actually recognize this end of the first tunnel. It was used for a big scene in the movie The Road. It is a great movie. You should check it out if you haven't seen it. It is actually an excellent book as well.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July friends. We live in an amazing place. Let's celebrate that and make it even better.

Update: My Fireworks Shot

I have to post the obligatory fireworks shot right? We attended the show that the city of Westminster put on with my family and my 70 year old grandma. It was pretty awesome.
